OUR PURPOSE
Design has the power to change lives. Design for Impact unites Austin's architecture and design community around a shared mission: creating a kitchen moodboard and concept that is as functional as it is beautiful, for a man who has given so much. By participating, you become part of a collaborative effort that celebrates creativity while making a real difference in a veteran's everyday life.
THE CHALLENGE
At Cabinet Couture, we believe great design should do more than create beautiful spaces. It should improve the lives of the people who live in them.
Design for Impact is a charitable kitchen moodboard & concept challenge that invites architects, interior designers, kitchen & bath designers, students, and design collaborative teams to turn their creativity toward a greater purpose.
This year, participants will contribute to the design of a kitchen for U.S. Army Staff Sergeant (Ret.) Carlos Tosado, an injured veteran living with lasting mobility limitations. The winning concept will inspire Carlos' future kitchen renovation, making this far more than a competition. It's a chance to show how thoughtful design can restore comfort, independence, and dignity to someone who has devoted his life to serving others.

PURPOSE

EXPOSURE
Winning and featured work will be professionally photographed and promoted across media channels and ASID Texas.
RECOGNITION
Juried awards plus a People's Choice Award will be celebrated at a public Awards Reception on November 5.

MEET THE VETERAN
U.S. Army Staff Sergeant (Ret.) Carlos Tosado served with distinction, earning numerous commendations for leadership and service — including the Steel de Fleury Medal, four Army Commendation Medals, the Army Achievement Medal, and two Army Good Conduct Medals.
After sustaining severe spinal injuries during deployment, Carlos underwent multiple reconstructive surgeries and now lives with permanent mobility limitations. Still, he devotes his life to mentoring, training and coaching the youth, and serving his community.
