THE CHALLENGE
Design for Impact invites architects, interior designers, kitchen & bath designers, students, and design teams to use their creativity for a greater purpose.
This year, participants will design a kitchen concept for U.S. Army Staff Sergeant (Ret.) Carlos Tosado, an injured veteran living with lasting mobility limitations. The winning concept will help inspire his future kitchen renovation, showing how thoughtful design can promote comfort and independence.
This challenge asks participants to create a mood board, a simple design concept, and consider accessibility features that could help Carlos' everyday life.
Registration closes October 9, with submissions due October 16 and an awards showcase scheduled for November 4 at Cabinet Couture.

MEET THE VETERAN
Carlos Tosado proudly served in the United States Army, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSG). During his military career, he served overseas in both Iraq (2011) and Afghanistan (2014).
Tosado's service in Iraq and Afghanistan left him with lasting spinal injuries, arthritis, and mobility limitations. Despite this, Tosado has continued to devote much of his life to service.
Tosado retired from the U.S. Army in September 2015, carrying the lessons, sacrifices, and values of his military service into the next chapter of his life. Through basketball, ministry, and his Skyhook initiative, he has mentored more than 10,000 young people, helping students pursue college, scholarships, and careers.
His Army experience helped shape the leadership, discipline, resilience, accountability, and team-first mentality that he now brings to basketball, coaching, and the development of young people.
