Design for Impact
Cabinet Couture in partnership with ASID Texas presents Design For Impact
A Kitchen Design Challenge - Where Thoughtful Design Meets Lasting Impact!
At Cabinet Couture, we believe exceptional design should do more than create beautiful spaces, it should improve the lives of the people who inhabit them.
Design for Impact is a charitable kitchen design competition that challenges architects, interior designers, kitchen & bath designers, interior stylists, design students, and collaborative teams to use their creativity for a greater purpose.
This year's challenge is unlike any other.
Participants will design a kitchen for U.S. Army Staff Sergeant (Ret.) Carlos Tosado, an injured veteran whose military service resulted in lasting mobility limitations. The winning concept will serve as the inspiration for Carlos' future kitchen renovation.
This is more than a competition.
It is an opportunity to demonstrate how thoughtful design can restore comfort, independence, and dignity to a deserving veteran.
Our Purpose
Design has the power to change lives.
The purpose of this competition is to unite Austin's Architecture & Design community around a shared mission: creating a kitchen that is as functional as it is beautiful for someone who has devoted his life to serving others.
By participating, designers become part of a collaborative effort that celebrates creativity while making a meaningful difference in a veteran's everyday life.
Carlos Tosado proudly served in the United States Army, earning numerous commendations for leadership, technical excellence, and distinguished service.
Throughout his military career he received:
Steel de Fleury Medal
Four Army Commendation Medals
Army Achievement Medal
Two Army Good Conduct Medals
Following severe spinal injuries sustained during deployment, Carlos underwent multiple reconstructive surgeries and now lives with permanent limitations affecting his mobility.
Despite these challenges, he continues to dedicate his life to mentoring youth and serving his community.
